Ajourney needs positive feedback to confirm that what he is doing is right. In the absence of feedback we cant tell if what were doing is good or not and we waste valuable time asking ourselves if we have any value. Thats why communication is key... And here we went from the total lack of communication between colleagues to brainstorming sessions held in the kitchen over coffee cigarettes and good cheer. We discuss cases and legal strategies in an environment optimal for creativity. We were all encouraged to have our say from the trainee to the lawyer with years of experience. Unlike other law firms where the focus was on work here the focus was on team spirit.
On collaboration and proper communication between Country Email List colleagues. We were told from the beginning that we were a team and that there was no relationship of subordination between the lawyers. We are colleagues and we must accept each other through thick and thin support each other and understand each other in difficult moments. And I didnt specialize in any field. I chose to enter the the other lawyers on more complex files. I also did civil and family law and administrative litigation.
I insisted on entering criminal cases and attending client meetings. I didnt stand aside even when I was asked to work on a public procurement file. I also did archive and registry. I had incredible energy and an unlimited source of creativity because I had guidance and because I had the courage to try. I had this courage because I knew that I could push my creativity to the extreme and the result could be either a brilliant idea or a great aberration. But I knew that even if the result was scifi I would not be ridiculed or underappreciated. I can say emphatically that for me mentoring in law was not just a strictly professional matter.
